Morebattle Mains is situated quarter of a mile southwest of the rural village of Morebattle, in a particularly picturesque area nestling in the foothills of the cheviots around 8 miles south of Kelso. Morebattle is reported to have come from the Anglian translation of “Mere” and “Botle”, meaning lake and house respectively. Directions
From the Kelso  bypass follow the B6352 sign posted for Yetholm, turning right for Morebattle on the B6436 after about half a mile.
