Matthew was brought up on his family farm in North Cumbria, which is involved in dairy, beef, sheep and poultry enterprises.
After working hard at University, Matthew graduated in 2010 from Harper Adams University College with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Rural Enterprise and Land Management. Since then he is become a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, and a Registered Valuer of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
Matthew has recently joined Edwin Thompson and carries out work for both the Keswick and Carlisle offices in the following areas:
Estate Management –
Manage several estates around Cumbria involved in all day to day management;
Involved in valuing all types of rural property for a variety of different purposes;
Landlord and Tenant –
Experience in advising on all issues relating to Farm Business Tenancies, Agricultural Holdings Act Tenancies and Residential Tenancies;
Property Sales / Lettings –
Dealing will all aspect of marketing rural property and advising on acquisitions;
Agent dealing with loan applications for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC);
Compulsory Purchase and Compensation –
Acting on behalf of affected parties for statutory and non-statutory infrastructure schemes.
Matthews hobbies include football, skiing and keeping active at the gym. He is also a member of the Dalston Agricultural Society.
