The project began as a concept to combine two holiday lets into one larger property with improved access.  Following dialogue with the Local Authority Planning Services it was decided that retaining two properties was desirable.  To facilitate improved access, a large dormer was constructed to the rear of the property.  This was required to allow a compliant stair design to be included and as the property is an old fishing cottage designed originally to be lived in over the ground floor the depth of the plan presented a challenge.

The works have seen considerable alteration to these properties with affecting their presentation to the sea.  All internal partitions, Party Wall, chimney and finishes were removed.  This allowed for open plan ground floors and a substantial stair to be created forming very attractive coastal holiday lets.  The works give these cottages a new lease of life in what is an extremely exposed environment.

Edwin Thompson were appointed to undertake a full Schedule of Architectural Services, including existing building survey, concept design, technical detail design, obtaining statutory consents and Building Contract administration.
