Architectural Projects In Progress – Underheugh

As a business we pride ourselves on providing our clients with a comprehensive “one stop” service from rural, commercial, residential and architectural services.

Our architectural and building surveying departments have been working under the radar for many years without showcasing all the amazing designs and work they put in to making our clients dream buildings come to fruition. We have dedication departments based in our Keswick and Berwick-upon-Tweed offices that work across the Lake District and Cumbria, as well as Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, and over the coming months we’d love to share some of the projects they’re currently working on.

We thought we’d kick off our projects with Underheugh, a conversion and extension of an off-grid traditional building along Hadrians wall.

The refurbishment to a dwelling utilises renewable technologies including solar thermal, solar PV, battery bank, and a log gasification boiler to deliver a characterful extension and refurbishment to a remote building, delivering all the comforts of a modern dwelling attached to the grid.

The project utilises rainwater harvesting and spring-water UV treatment, and includes extensions in locally sourced Cumbrian green oak.

The interiors are designed and delivered to a high standard and used where possible locally sourced materials to provide a warm and light farmhouse at the centre of a modern smallholding.

Our Keswick architectural and building surveying team were commissioned to provide full architectural services including post-acquisition building survey, design, statutory permission and building contract administration.
