This project began with a need to future proof an existing semi detached property in order to make it more accessible. The development included a large scale ground floor alteration and for the creation of an extension to the rear. The biggest design move was to push the kitchen out of the existing property into a large wraparound extension which acts as the social hub of the house, combining kitchen, dining and living, but giving access to a utility. The large span roof provided for some interesting structural solutions and the use of cement board cladding means that future maintenance is kept to a minimum.
In place of the original kitchen is a large ground floor wetroom with ground floor storage reconfigured.
The project utilises profile roof tiles, cement board cladding, high efficiency sliding doors and aluminum faced windows.
Edwin Thompson were appointed to undertake full Architectural Services, including design, obtaining statutory consents and Contract Administration works.
